David Chislett’s debut poetry collection, For You Or Someone Like You consists of 90 poems showcasing Chislett’s range and depth of emotion, subject matter and style in a taut and visceral collection of verse, due for launch in June 2012.

Born out of South Africa’s North West province comes a fresh, exciting new talent in the form of young contemporary poet Abueng Junior aka Abueng Ntsimane, whose current passion is to provide fellow South African’s with an insight into a man’s heart through his compilation of modern-day love poems presented in the form of a beautifully illustrated debut book and lyrical CD titled ‘in the scheme of things’.

Khadija Tracey Carmelita Heeger born Cape Town, South African, raised on the Cape Flats in the township of Hanover Park, started performing at the age of nine years.  The goal was always to become an actress, however at age 15 this changed and writing became the medium for expression.  An inward journey was imminent.

Poetry Africa Festival Tour 2011 in October

A high-quality mix of poets and musicians come together for the Poetry Africa tour, which this year travels to Blantyre, Malawi (8th October), Johannesburg (11th), Harare , Zimbabwe (13th), and Cape Town (15th October) before culminating at the main Poetry Africa festival in Durban from17 to 22 October.

Cape wine master Tim James was again announced on Friday evening as the winner of the 3rd Annual South African Wine Writers Prize at a function hosted by Franschhoek Wine Valley, in association with the Franschhoek Literary Festival. James was also the winner last year.

The 5th annual Franschhoek Literary Festival is on from 13 to 15 May this year, and there are various events designed for younger book fans.
The Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourist Association (FWVTA) will be awarding the 3rd Annual South African Wine Writers Award at the Franschhoek Literary Festival in May this year.
With more than 100 authors, poets and journalists on the programme, the 2011 Franschhoek Literary Festival (FLF) has added a new venue and is up to 70 events this year. All the more reason to book out the weekend of 13 – 15 May to enjoy invigorating conversations, good books and fine cuisine in the Winelands for the 4th annual FLF.

The recently retired Constitutional Court judge, Justice Albie Sachs, is to deliver the keynote address at the opening of the Time of the Writer festival in Durban on 14th March. In keeping with the festival’s focus on Freedom of Expression, the title of Justice Sachs’ address is FREE SPIRITS AND RAVAGED SOULS - Tensions at the heart of freedom of expression.

The 2011 Franschhoek Literary Festival (FLF) will again celebrate the magic of words from 13 to 15 May, with a gathering of over 90 authors, poets, editors, illustrators and chairpeople taking part in 70 events.
