ROWAN STUART
Unnbeknownst to most Durbanites, at some stage or another they’ve probably already fallen in love with the guitar-playing of Rowan Stuart. From rocking audiences in “The Guitar That Rocked The World” at the age of just 16, to being the scorching lead guitar in the South African production of the internationally renowned “We Will Rock You”, to holding audiences in the palm of his hand during the course of numerous local theatre productions, at just 23 Rowan is practically a veteran in the local music & theatre industry.
Post his Cynosure & theatre success, Rowan has now ventured forth on his own, to carve out a new career with his debut solo album ‘A Thousand Brand New Places’.
He has already won ‘Best Songwriter’ in the highly competitive 2005 national ‘Young Talent Rocks With Yamaha’ competition and performed as a soloist for the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra at Sun Coast Casino’s first birthday celebration. After many years of writing music, Rowan has recorded a much anticipated album entitled ‘A Thousand Brand New Places’. The album can be described as Sophisticated Pop. Although musicians are usually reluctant to compare themselves with other musicians, Rowan believes that his music style sits somewhere between John Mayer and Sting. Rowan also considers himself honoured to have received positive feedback on his album from non other than Brian May, the lead guitarist of Queen whose role Rowan took on in the Queen stage show ‘We Will Rock You’; high praise indeed.
This album has come about after a series of learning curves and life experiences that have moulded Rowan into a person who writes powerful and moving melodies that reach your soul and encourage you to sing your heart out.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see a fantastic talent perform in the wonderful setting of the Luna Lounge!

SHOMON
Performing only her own original compositions is a brave move for anyone in the music industry. Her non-commercial, yet deeply moving lyrics and melodies have been described by the media and fellow musicians as meaningful, nourishing, igniting all the senses, unique, unpredictable, beautiful, necessary and magical.
Shomon and music are synonymous – she doesn’t play the piano, her fingers make love to the keyboard, as she transports her audience into another dimension, usually with goosebumps! Her voice is Shomon’s most powerful instrument, transforming her from a gentle healing angel into a powerful and raunchy “rock chick” in the space of a few bars. Shomon’s lyrics reflect and reveal the reality of her own personal journey through life, with her observations, feelings and emotions laid bare, allowing her audience to recognise and embrace many things within themselves. It is not so much a performance, but rather an awesome experience, for both the artist and her audience.
Building on and developing the gifts she was born with, Shomon studied Opera at Sahmyook University, Seoul, South Korea, and has recently spent a year at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, USA. “I have realised that my gift in life is my relationship with music and, after being coaxed into performing, it has been a rollercoaster ride of opportunities, performances, collaborations, blessings, abundance and self-discovery”

CROC E MOSES
Imagine a drummer turning to poetry. That's croc e moses. Mysterious. Clever fool. Born in sub arctic Canada, he has now been based in Southern Africa (Swaziland and South Africa) for more than half his life.
His performance is rhythm driven. It is word music, the music of word, talking song. His delivery borders on incantation. With oodles of poly-rhythms, a soothing accent, and lots of word play, he draws his audience into many different ways of experiencing words. You will be inspired to listen! He takes lots of risks in his content and with his imagination. He draws upon exposure to extremes. His work is serious, sensitive, deep, sometimes profound, but equally flippant and possibly humorous! It is inspired work and it rubs off. He aspires to levity, to lift whoever is willing to listen.
Over the last eight years he has independently produced and released a volume of poetry (Twilight Sunburn 2004), a music CD (Mellowdrama 2006) and a book (Through 2008).
He has performed at festivals, open mics, fund raisers, birthday party’s, exhibition openings and solo gigs mainly in South Africa, but also as far as New York, Dublin, Copenhagen, England, Mozambique, and Swaziland! Highlights include Grahamstown Festival, South Africa, in 2001, The Aldeburgh Music Festival and Latitude Festival, United Kingdom in 2007, and Bushfire Festival, Swaziland 2008.
