In CLOSER, a play by Patrick Marber, a quartet of strangers meet, fall in love and become caught up in a web of sexual desire and betrayal. Directed by Warren Nebe, Closer is a sensational look at sexual politics in a modern urban environment. Masasa Mangena, Cherae Halley, Tefo Paya and James Reynolds, four senior Wits Dramatic Art performance students take on the lives of Larry, Anna, Dan and Alice.
Charles Isherwood from the Daily Variety notes that Closer is “a brilliant and bracingly adult new play…both bruising and beautiful, shatteringly funny and devastatingly sad…’
Warren Nebe is the head of Drama, Wits School of Arts. He is a graduate of Wits University, UCT and New York University. He has taught and directed for UCT, NYU, Maru-a-Pula, and Maitisong. Warren is a leading educator and drama therapist both in South Africa and abroad. He is also the Director of Drama for Life – Africa’s leading postgraduate and research programme in Applied Drama and Theatre.
