Cape Town is the centre of the world – if you’re in it or passing through it, that is. It is the place where all who love expression congregate to celebrate a City that breathes art, history and culture. When The Loerie Awards comes to town from 1 – 3 October 2010 to commemorate the year’s greatest talent in the brand communication industry, Capetonians need not be left to sit on the sidelines but are invited to take part in the first ever Creative Week Cape Town.
Creative Cape Town has joined forces with the Loeries to boost this prestigious event and too involve the City’s creative community in Creative Week Cape Town, 24 September – 3 October 2010. Christened after its godfather, New York Creative Week, this brainchild is a weeklong explosion of innovation right in the heart of the Mother City.
Whether your talents lie in film, design, words, music, architecture, live performance, crafts or even a passion for making quilted socks, we want to help you broaden your fan base. For ten days, creatives can host events, demonstrations and presentations served to enthral, enlighten and ignite interest around their work and the creative community at large.
Creative Week Cape Town has been initiated as a legacy event for Cape Town’s bid for World Design Capital 2014, and invites individuals and organisations involved in all aspects of Cape Town’s creative life – education, arts, design, advertising, music and service organisations – to participate.
Events can be staged anywhere in the City – and with Creative Week Cape Town culminating in the Loeries Festival Weekend (1 – 3 Oct), there is plenty of opportunity for hosts to exploit their creative talent to the thousands of Loeries attendees nestling in the city for the awards ceremony.
You are invited to get in first, to get the party started and fill Cape Town with your colours, thoughts, motions and notions. Yes that’s right, it’s time to show off.
So, you’ve got an idea and you want to show the rest of the world. Creative Week Cape Town is a user-generated event, which means that events are independently organised by participants. Creative Cape Town does not offer funding for your event.
Creative Week Cape Town, together with these events, will be “self” promoted on the website www.creativeweekct.co.za, in the mainstream media, niche publications and sites, including those of Creative Cape Town and its partners.
