Guy Buttery brings home to Durban his National Award winning album for one concert only. At the 16th MTN South African Music Awards held in Sun City on the 16th April 2010, Guy's latest album "Fox Hill Lane" won "Best Instrumental Record of the Year". Being his fourth nomination at the SAMA's, the most prestigious event on the SA music calendar, it is great to see the recognition "Fox Hill Lane" deserves on a large National scale.
It’s not often that a young musician has to squeeze in tours in his own country amongst a bustling schedule of international events. Fortunately for Guy Buttery, and unfortunately for us, we seem to touch base with him less and less due to an ever expanding repertoire post the release of his third and latest album Fox Hill Lane. The response Guy has received for what he believes to be his most mature album to date, has been phenomenal. Local and international press reviews have

offered nothing but glowing reports on both the musicality and production of all 14 tracks. Each of these reflects a very intimate portrayal of Guy’s personal and musical journey since his previous album Songs from the Cane Fields.
Media hype aside, the proof here is in the pudding. One seldom finds Guy playing to anything but a full house and album sales are flying faster than his record label can keep up with. Since the release of Fox Hill Lane Guy has been invited to collaborate, perform and record on a world music project in Mauritius with acclaimed artists Eric Triton and Alhousseini (from Niger’s Etran Finatawa). He will also be representing South Africa at Toulouse’s Rio Loco festival in France in a few months time and will be heading back to Europe later in the year for another fully fledged tour. Loyal fans fear not however, for despite the buzz of global adventures, the allure of Durban still resonates strongly for Guy as he plans his year and schedules his tours.
CD’s, “Fox Hill Lane” and Guy’s sophomore release “Songs from the Cane Fields” will be on sale at the show.
