The Tygerberg Children's Choir is without any doubt one of the world's very best children's choirs. For almost four glorious decades the choir, based in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs and under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Hennie Loock with Theresa Loock as arranger and accompanist, has taken lovers of choral music on a very special musical journey.
The choir regularly performs with great aplomb for heads of state, princes, kings and queens and is one of South-Africa's proudest export products.
The choir has won every major international choral competition since its inception in 1972 and its unsurpassed legato singing, maturity of sound, musical power and dynamic interpretation of very difficult material makes Tygerberg Children's Choir a foremost exponent in the world of international competition choirs. The choir has a vast legacy of excellent choral CD's as testimony of its prowess.
In July this year, Tygerberg Children's Choir will participate in three categories at the world's flagship choral competition, the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China. This competion is widely regarded as the 'Olympic Games" for choirs, and only the very best choirs from all over the world are invited to participate.

On 6 June they will inter alia perform their competion programme in a special Gala Concert in the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Picton Street, Parow.The programme will include poignant pieces such as Lauda Sion (Orbán György), Michael Head's Ave Maria, the spiritual Elijah Rock, the Sotho song Arihe Morija, La Lluvia (Hatfield), Kaljanner Kaljanner (Hendrik Hofmeyr) and Colourful Land, a Chinese song. Popular repertoire will include Kinders van die Wind, Karoonag, Go Tell it On the Mountain and That's Where the Music Takes Me.
