Bobby & the Dynamites began as the very first South African roots music band about 1987. Playing traditional Irish, Bluegrass and a great deal inbetween, they certainly woke up a sleepy Durban.
Bobby and the Dynamites were quite a surprise for me; I heard the music from some way off and could tell that these were a bunch of guys who could really play the Blues. Once I got closer and could see them, I could see why, I think the youngest member in the band can’t be any younger than fifty, they’ve all had years to learn and perfect the blues, no blues rock here, this is blues the way BB King plays it, each member of the band a master of his particular instrument, if you’re a blues fan in Durban, don’t miss out on these guys, I believe they have a regular Tuesday night blues sessionin Durban.
Hi
This is Robert van der Linde of Bobby & The Dynamites. I'm one of the elderly felllows (actually the rhythym guitarist/singer) and we'd like to thank you for the kind words. Will Wallace (lead guitar) and I have been playing together since about 1987. We had a band back then with Richard Haslop and Vic Schulze also called Bobby & The Dynamites.
We're available for gigs. Please contact us at
