The Peoples Theatre is proud to announce that it has secured the rights to stage the award-winning West End production of Noddy in June 2009.
This major coup means that Johannesburg audiences can experience this acclaimed international children’s play right here on their doorstep.
Noddy, based on Enid Blyton’s beloved little ‘nodding man’, will be staged at the Peoples Theatre at the Joburg Theatre from 1 June.
Following the theatre’s successful staging of Jack and the Beanstalk over Easter, the winter school holidays are now also set to be filled with fantasy magic.
Meet Noddy, Big Ears, Mr Plod, Tessie Bear and a host of other favourite Toyland characters in this production by acclaimed children’s dramatist David Wood. Wood draws on the most entertaining and instructive elements of Blyton’s 24 Noddy books for this popular adaptation of the children’s classic.
Tapping into the excitement of live theatre with imaginative staging, music, lighting and a great deal of audience participation, this pantomime-styled play is sure to entrance audiences of all ages.
Like a child finding out how the world works, our hero learns the value of friendship, hard work and honesty – values young audiences will relate to and benefit from.
Noddy will boast a top local cast including Emmanuelle Girard, Thokozani Nzima, Botha Enslin, Samaqocwa Yoyo and Danilo Antonelli.
